It’s Chris with FanWord, and I wanted to welcome you back to The Highlight Reel! 🎉
As I mentioned on February 9, many of you have asked to stay informed on what we’re doing here at FanWord. These emails are short in nature and designed to keep you in the loop on:
- ✅ Product updates
- 🤝 New partnerships
- 🚀 New features
- ℹ️ Other noteworthy info
With that said… let’s jump into edition number two! 🎬
And as always, if you have any questions or want to chat further, reach out through the contact form at the bottom of the page — I’d love to connect.
What is FanWord Assist?
If you need a quick refresher, FanWord Assist is one of the leading AI-powered storytelling platforms in college sports. We help college sports communicators at ~200 schools across every level of the industry reclaim 5-10 hours every week by streamlining workflows and making high-quality content both faster and easier to produce. (i.e. game recaps, feature stories, player bios, transcriptions, news stories, online interviews, etc.)
🏈 New Sport: Flag Football
If you haven’t heard, flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports across all divisions. We’re really happy to announce that it’s now fully supported inside FanWord Assist, bringing your AI-powered game recaps to yet another group of student-athletes.
We’re the first platform to build a solution for flag football, and we’ve made it easy to generate fast, accurate, ready-to-publish game recap drafts straight from the same official stat outputs that athletic departments already use.
🐍 Case Study: Florida Southern College
In the midst of the winter/spring crossover season, college sports communicators are working overtime to keep the departmental ship afloat.
If you’ve ever wondered what the true impact on a college athletic department looks like, take a look at this case study on Florida Southern College. They’re saving 45 minutes on game nights, finding consistency, and getting home quicker.
👩💻 Feature Spotlight: Staff Bios
Student-athletes and coaches are often credited with a program’s success. But the foundation of that success lies in the dedicated staff working behind the scenes.
These people are absolutely critical to the day-to-day operations in college athletics. And their stories deserve to be — and must be — told, too.
That’s exactly why we’re shining a light on how to easily create Staff Bios with FanWord Assist.
💬 Hear from a Peer
“I feel passionately about this as someone who has a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and thought they were going to be a journalist their entire life. You’re still writing. That’s the other piece of this. The writing that you are doing is not going away. It’s just helping you get there faster.“

🔜 Coming Soon…
A sneak peek at what we’re actively building.
- A New User Interface: We take usability seriously. The newest version of FanWord Assist is designed to make it easier to produce the content you use most — and save more time in the process.
- Player Bios for Non-XML Sports: Creating season summaries for athlete roster pages on teams that use XML files is already live. Soon, you’ll be able to do the same for sports like golf, cross country, track and field, and tennis,
- Game Context: You will be able to adjust the tone of your game recaps based on selected context, including rivalry matchups, tough losses, and big wins, so the recap reads the way you’d write it.
- Weekly Nominations: We make it easier than ever to select and submit student-athletes for your weekly nominations.
That’s it! 🎉
