CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department and FanWord, the leading AI-powered storytelling platform for college athletics, are proud to announce a new partnership designed to showcase the voices, experiences, and achievements of Mocs student-athletes, coaches, teams, and alumni.
Through this collaboration, Chattanooga will utilize FanWord Assist, an AI-powered content creation platform that supports day-to-day athletics communications tasks including the production of game recaps, feature stories, roster-page player bios, articles, and audio and video transcriptions.
By streamlining content creation across all sports, FanWord Assist allows UTC to maintain its voice and editorial standards while creating more consistent, timely, and engaging coverage. The platform enables staff to move efficiently from interviews, game notes, and statistics to polished stories that connect with fans, alumni, and supporters.
As part of the partnership, FanWord and Chattanooga are launching a custom storytelling website called Meet the Mocs. The site will feature original feature stories that highlight standout moments and the character of those who make up the Chattanooga family. Together, they’ll give visitors an inside look at the human behind the highlight – the journeys that define what it means to be part of UTC, on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.
“We’re excited to work with FanWord,” Vice Chancellor for Athletics Mark Wharton said. “Our strategic communication office works tireless hours developing content for our channels as well as external media. We’re fortunate to still have a vital media presence at a time when so many schools have only their own voice in sharing their stories and teams. FanWord will be a strong addition to their workflow, expanding content while creating additional bandwidth for our staff.”
UTC joins a rapidly growing network of programs using FanWord Assist to amplify their storytelling, including NCAA Division I programs such as Gonzaga, SMU, and Colorado, as well as Southern Conference peers Mercer and ETSU, and other Tennessee institutions like King University.
“There’s a strong sense of pride and character that runs through everything Chattanooga Athletics does,” said Chris Aumueller, Founder and CEO of FanWord. “We’re thrilled to help the Mocs share the stories of their student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and supporters – whether through timely game coverage, player features, or long-form storytelling – in ways that truly capture the heart of this program.”
Whether celebrating a championship run, spotlighting a standout student-athlete, or honoring long-standing traditions, this partnership will empower UTC to share the moments and stories that make being a Moc special throughout the Chattanooga experience.
