Get to Know: Nominations

From Box Score to the Conference Office: Introducing Nominations in FanWord Assist

April 8, 2026

Monday morning has a way of arriving before you’re ready for it.

The weekend’s games are wrapped, the recaps are posted, and somewhere in the middle of everything else on your plate, there’s a nomination window with your name on it — or several, if you’re covering more than one sport.

SIDs all across America get it done. That’s not the question.

The question is how much of your Monday it takes to build a submission-ready case for every athlete who earned one — across every sport, every week, through final postseason honors.

We built Nominations inside FanWord Assist to give that time back.

What Nominations Does

Nominations is a brand new feature inside FanWord Assist that gives college sports communicators a structured, repeatable workflow for flagging standout performances and generating submission-ready write-ups — for Player of the Week, Player of the Month, and end-of-year awards.

It lives inside the same platform you’re already using for game recaps and player bios.

No new tool to learn, no new tab to keep open.

It’s just a faster path from box score to conference office.

How It Works

As with everything in FanWord Assist, bringing your nominations to life follows a simple, step-by-step workflow.

  • Select games within your chosen timeframe.
  • Review a table with all relevant stats from those games.
  • Choose your nominees.
  • Pick the award type.
  • Click ‘Generate’

FanWord Assist gives you a complete, editable write-up ready to go straight to your conference office.

Weekly, monthly, or end-of-season — the workflow is the same. The window changes. The heavy lifting doesn’t land on you.

Complete, conference-ready nominations. Built from your stat files.

Done in seconds.

And still fully yours to edit before it goes anywhere.

Built for the Awards Calendar, Too

We built this feature thinking about Player of the Week nominations because those are the ones with the tightest turnaround. But the same challenge exists at every level of the awards calendar. Monthly nominations require a longer lookback window and a stronger cumulative narrative. End-of-season awards require even more — a coherent case built across an entire body of work.

Nominations handles all three. Weekly, Monthly, and Season are built into the nomination type selector from the start and the workflow scales with the time window.

Your Starting Point

Just like with game recaps, the SID is the one who knows whether a stat line tells the whole story. You know when a game was closer than the score suggests. You know when a player’s performance was more significant in context than the numbers alone reflect. FanWord gives you the structured draft and the stat-backed narrative. The judgment, the editing, and the submission are still yours.

That’s the way it should work.

Available Inside FanWord Assist

Conference nomination windows are tight and unforgiving. But now, with Nominations inside FanWord Assist, looming deadlines are a thing of the past.

We built this with feedback from conference offices because a usable tool that saves time is the most important outcome and we’re excited to see what you do with it. If you’re already a FanWord partner, you’ll find it inside of your ‘Teams’ dashboard.
