PEMBROKE, NC. – UNC Pembroke Athletics is stepping into the future of digital storytelling with a new partnership with FanWord, one of the leading AI technology and storytelling companies in college sports. As the first institution from Conference Carolinas to do so, UNC Pembroke is pioneering a new model of innovation among its peers while joining a prestigious network of FanWord partners across the country.
FanWord Assist, the AI-powered storytelling platform developed by FanWord, will enable UNCP’s athletic communications team to create written content more efficiently—from game recaps and athlete bios to in-depth features on alumni, coaches, and other stakeholders. The software is purpose-built to amplify storytelling efforts and streamline content creation for college sports programs of all sizes.
While larger Division I schools such as UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, DePaul, and Utah Valley have already integrated FanWord Assist into their storytelling strategies, UNC Pembroke’s adoption of the technology underscores how forward-thinking institutions at the Division II level can compete creatively and strategically in the ever-evolving landscape of college athletics.
